This small village on Carmarthenshire's coast sits on one corner of Wales' biggest beach, the seven mile sandy expanse of Pendine Sands, which was used as the venue for land speed record attempts in the 1920s. More recently, Pendine has become a popular holiday destination with many holiday caravans swelling the population in summer. Part of the beach is used as a military training area, so is often not accessible on weekdays, but it is usually open in the evening and at weekends.
