The picturesque centre of Rhayader, a town which still feels rather untouced by time in parts. The clocktower is a perennial obstacle for truckers - hence the protective steel bollards. On the corner of South Street and East Street (you've guessed it - the routes south and east!), the recently restored 'Ye Olde Stores', according to the sign, established in 1640, is now the Strand Bistro, a busy cafe and B&B.
