Trellech, Gwent

This carved wooden sundial, standing in a field at the edge of the village of Trellech, is a replica of a stone sundial, erected in 1689 by Lady Magdalen Probert, which depicts three of the village's monuments: the remains of an early motte and bailey castle known as Tump Terret; the three standing stones known as Harold's Stones; and the Virtuous Well, famed for its healing power. The original sundial is to be found inside St Nichlas's, the village church, where it was moved for safekeeping.
