Statue of an Elan Valley 'Navvy'

This statue of one of the thousands of 'Navvies' - or workers - who toiled with picks and shovels to construct the dams of the Elan Valley. This mammoth civil engineering project to provide water for the city of Birmingham lasted thirteen years, from 1893 to 1906.
