Norman Motte and Bailey, Cardiff Castle

Visitors descend the steep steps from the great keep of Cardiff Castle. The Norman motte and bailey keep was built from timber around 1091, which was replaced by the present 12 sided stone structure was built when the castle was under the ownership of Rover, son of King Henry 1.
