Blaenavon, Gwent
An exhibit at the Big Pit mining museum is this 1850 water balance winding wheel which came from Brynpwllog near Rhymney and is typical of 18th and 19th Century pit winding gear which was used near the edge of the coalfield where the workings were not too deep.
