Monmouth, Gwent

The gatehouse on Monnow Bridge was built after the stone bridge, in the early 1300s, although the current structure is substantially different. Until 2004, the bridge was the only crossing into Monmouth town centre, and was used by traffic until a new bridge just downstream opened in 2004, since when it has been padestrianised.
